  • Smart Sensor Devices has been featured in Enterprise Magazine, a Swedish publication that highlights companies, entrepreneurs, innovation, and business development. The article includes an interview with our founder, Axel Hammar, and tells the story of how Smart Sensor Devices has grown from a small IoT company in Sollentuna, Sweden, into an international technology company with one million devices sold.

For us, this feature is more than a media mention. It is a recognition of ten years of hard work, product development, customer trust, and continuous innovation in connected sensor technology.

A Journey Built on Technology, Persistence, and Customer Needs

Smart Sensor Devices was founded in 2016 with a clear focus on connected IoT products that are reliable, easy to use, and ready for global applications. Over the past decade, the company has developed solutions for wireless communication, environmental monitoring, and air quality measurement.

One of the company’s major milestones has been the success of BlueIO, our Bluetooth dongle, which has now reached one million units sold. This achievement represents not only strong market demand, but also the trust customers place in our technology.

Another important step in our journey was working with Thales, a global technology leader. For a small Swedish company, becoming a supplier to an international technology company was an important confirmation that our products met high global standards.

Today, Smart Sensor Devices continues to grow internationally while remaining a focused and agile team based in Sollentuna. We are proud to have built this progress without external investors, relying instead on strong products, long-term thinking, and close collaboration with customers and partners.

From Measuring Air Quality to Improving It

A central part of the Enterprise Magazine article is our work with indoor air quality through HibouAir. Indoor air is often overlooked because the problem is usually invisible. People may not see particles, pollutants, or poor ventilation, but these factors can still affect health, comfort, productivity, and overall well-being.

With HibouAir, our goal has always been to make air quality easier to understand. By measuring and analyzing the air around us, organizations can gain valuable insights and make better decisions for healthier indoor environments.

The article also highlights our latest step forward: Control Hub. Launched in January 2026, Control Hub marks an important evolution for Smart Sensor Devices. Instead of only measuring and reporting air quality data, the system can help trigger action. For example, when particle levels increase in a room, Control Hub can automatically increase ventilation or activate an air purifier.

This development reflects what we hear from customers: data is valuable, but action is what creates real impact.

Recognition for a Small Team with Global Reach

One of the most meaningful parts of the article is how it captures the contrast between our size and our reach. Smart Sensor Devices is a small team, but our products and partnerships connect us to international markets.

Through global ecosystems such as Cisco’s partner network, Smart Sensor Devices has access to opportunities across Europe, the United States, Australia, Asia, and beyond. This shows how a focused technology company from Sweden can compete internationally by building smart, practical, and scalable solutions.

Product Simplicity as a Competitive Advantage

The article also reflects one of our strongest product principles: Plug and Play.

We believe technology should be powerful, but not complicated. Customers should be able to start using our products quickly, without unnecessary setup or complex manuals. Whether it is HibouAir, BlueIO, or Control Hub, our focus is to make advanced sensor technology accessible, practical, and easy to integrate.

This simplicity is not only a design choice. It is part of our business philosophy.

    Looking Ahead

As Smart Sensor Devices celebrates ten years in 2026, we are proud of what has been achieved so far: one million devices sold, trusted international customers, growing global partnerships, and a product portfolio that continues to evolve from measurement to action.

The Enterprise Magazine feature is a valuable moment to reflect on this journey, but it is also a reminder of what comes next. We will continue developing smart sensor solutions that help organizations understand their environments, improve air quality, and make better decisions based on real-time data.

We thank Enterprise Magazine for highlighting our story and for sharing Axel Hammar’s perspective on entrepreneurship, technology, and the future of smart sensor solutions.
